A BETTER WAY TO CHECK

From “feels off” to a measurement.

01

Plug in. Press a button.

Connect over USB or Bluetooth and press a controller button with this tab in focus. Your operating system must recognise the controller first.

02

Hands off the sticks.

Put your controller on a stable surface. Start the test: you have three seconds to let go before we measure ten seconds of resting input.

03

Read it. Save it. Compare.

Review mean offset, peak offset and the 95th percentile. Download a report and repeat with the same connection to compare results.

WHAT THE NUMBERS MEAN

Observed input. No guesswork.

Radial offset is the distance from the centre: √(x² + y²). 100% equals the full travel of one axis; a diagonal can exceed 100%.

The 95th percentile is the value that 95% of samples do not exceed. Your selected deadzone is a visual reference; it does not change your controller or game settings.

FAQ

Before you replace your controller.

What is stick drift?

Stick drift is joystick input when you are not moving the stick. Persistent input at rest can cause movement in a game. Calibration and game deadzones also affect what you experience. This test shows the input reaching your browser.

Does it work with Xbox, PlayStation and other controllers?

It works when your operating system and browser expose your controller through the Gamepad API. The guided test needs standard mapping and four axes. Other mappings show numbered axes and buttons without potentially incorrect stick labels.

My controller is not showing up. What should I try?

Click this page and press a controller button. Check that your operating system recognises it. Try a USB data cable, pair it again, or close other apps using it. Open this site in its own HTTPS tab; some embedded browsers restrict controller access.

How much drift is acceptable?

There is no universal pass threshold. It depends on the game, its deadzone and how your device processes input. Compare your report with your game settings and actual in-game behaviour. One number alone is not proof of a hardware fault.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Every test and report download is free, with no account required. Controller measurements are not sent to a server. A report is saved to your device only when you choose to download it.
